How To Host Corporate Team Building Activities

By Rachael Gutierrez

To those who are hosting corporate team building activities, the first thing that one will have to consider is planning games that will help in various business aspects. For example, the game should incorporate some simple situations at work. Make the entire game fun so that the participants attend to it with more flair.

There should be lots of situations that the person can use for this. Since this is the case, make sure to make a list of the said situations. In the list, do not forget to list the reactions of the attendees during the real situation. With the said list, it is possible to spark a discussion with the participants regarding this matter.

One of the games that can be started during the said activity is the scavenger hunt. This is the kind of hunt where one has to use the different items that one can find at the location. The person should try to make use of these items to challenge the participants. Also, forbid normal communication means and have them look for a communication means unique to their group themselves.

Organizing the groups that will participate in every event should be considered properly. This should be the first priority that one thinks of. For those who are thinking of this, it is better for them to organize the participants into groups according to a criteria that they do not expect. For example, it is possible to organize them into age, shoe size, birthday, and such.

Do not forget to use lunch as a way to build teamwork too. Most of the times, the members might use lunch as a way to isolate themselves again and just check up on their mails or messages on their phone. If this is the case, make use of the phone during mealtimes to foster teamwork too. Those who want to check their phones will need to buy the entire group a snack or drink.

The participants should form teams for themselves. Remember to have each teams compete with the others. Have representatives to lead the teams. The representative is the one who will represent the group to every game that they will have to participate. It is important to consider who will lead each teams properly too.

Try to organize a thirsty straw game too. This is actually the kind of game that will encourage the person to drink water in a quick speed. Each teams can send in at least four teammates, give them a bottle of water with a stuck straw, and have them drink the entire bottle. The next person may start drinking once the previous person finishes the bottle.

Try out story writing as well. The said event should spark up the creative minds of the participants. Of course, this is not just a simple story writing. Every teammate will have to contribute a single line to the story. The group which has produced the best story through this will win a cool prize.

A telephone game should work during the corporate team building activities too. The team will have to form a line where the first player decides on a mime for a certain word or phrase. The mime actions will be relayed to the second player to the third and so on. The last player will be the one who will guess what the mime action is all about.
